Eliminates the need for screws or rivets, allowing panels to maintain a clean and seamless architectural appearance.
TWEHA WoodProtect
Protective black wood treatment for timber façade supporting structures
TWEHA WoodProtect is a black wood preservative specially developed for timber supporting structures used in ventilated and rainscreen façade systems.
TWEHA WoodProtect provides durable protection against moisture and helps protect timber in critical areas where it may meet concrete, steel or masonry. Through its closed-cell surface structure, it helps protect the timber against wood rot while at the same time creating a suitable bonding surface for TWEHA Tape and TWEHA adhesives.
In addition to its protective function, the black color provides an important aesthetic advantage. In open-jointed façade constructions, TWEHA WoodProtect creates a dark background behind the joints, preventing the timber supporting structure from remaining visually noticeable between the façade panels.
TWEHA WoodProtect is not an adhesion primer. Its primary functions are to protect and prepare the timber supporting structure and to create a controlled surface for the subsequent TWEHA Bonding System.
Before application, the timber supporting structure must be dry, clean and free from dust and grease. The wood moisture content must be below 18%. TWEHA WoodProtect should be thoroughly mixed before use and applied in one thin, continuous and fully covering layer using a clean fine-structured roller. Multiple layers should not be applied.
TWEHA WoodProtect must not be applied to painted wood, plywood, aluminum or other metals. After application, façade bonding can normally commence after approximately 2 hours. Drying time is influenced by ambient temperature; ideal processing conditions are approximately 18–20 °C, and application below approximately 5 °C is not recommended.
After TWEHA WoodProtect has dried completely, TWEHA Tape and the appropriate TWEHA adhesive can be applied in accordance with the applicable TWEHA Instructions for Use.

Designed for performance and efficiency
Engineered for reliable bonding

TWEHA WoodProtect is particularly suitable for:
TWEHA WoodProtect is particularly suitable for untreated pinewood timber supporting structures and timber battens in ventilated façade constructions, as well as rainscreen façade supporting structures more broadly. It protects timber against moisture penetration, including where timber is installed in areas adjoining concrete, steel or masonry, and creates a suitable surface for TWEHA Tape and TWEHA adhesives — or a black background behind open façade joints. It is used for protecting timber supporting structures before installation in exterior bonded façade applications, as well as for preserved timber where additional treatment of the bonding surface is required.
For exterior applications, untreated pinewood must be protected all around with TWEHA WoodProtect before installation. Preserved timber only requires treatment of the surface on which the TWEHA bonding system will be applied.
A complete bonding system
All TWEHA products are part of the Tweha Bonding System. Always refer to the Technical Data Sheets and approved substrate lists for correct system application.

WoodProtect protects and prepares suitable timber substructures for use with TWEHA bonded ventilated façade systems.
WoodProtect improves protection against moisture and creates a suitable bonding surface for the TWEHA Tape and adhesive system.
The timber moisture content should be below 18% before WoodProtect and the bonding system are applied.
No. Structural-quality timber with a sound, properly planed bonding surface is required and the actual timber should be assessed for adhesion.
The surface should be free from knots, cracks, resin pockets, grease, dust, contamination and planer damage.

More efficient, more economical
Compared to traditional mechanical fixation systems, TWEHA Bonding Systems can reduce installation costs by up to 40%.
Faster installation, fewer components, and no visible fixings result in both economic and aesthetic advantages.
