Eliminates the need for screws or rivets, allowing panels to maintain a clean and seamless architectural appearance.
TWEHA Primer #1
Special surface primer for low surface energy bonding surfaces on façade panels
TWEHA Primer #1 is a specially developed surface pre-treatment for the bonding side of façade panels and other substrates where coatings, finishes or other surface treatments may result in relatively low surface energy and consequently insufficient direct adhesion.
Modern façade panels are available with an increasing variety of coatings, protective finishes and factory-applied surface treatments. Although these layers may provide excellent decorative or protective properties, their surface characteristics can adversely affect the wetting and adhesion of an adhesive.
TWEHA Primer #1 creates a stable and consistent bonding interface between such critical surfaces and the TWEHA adhesive, improving the conditions required to achieve a durable adhesive connection.
TWEHA Primer #1 must always be considered as part of the complete bonding interface:
façade panel → coating / surface treatment → TWEHA Primer #1 → TWEHA adhesive
The durability of the final adhesive connection therefore depends not only on the adhesion of TWEHA Primer #1 and the TWEHA adhesive, but also on the cohesive strength of the coating or surface layer and its adhesion to the underlying façade panel.
TWEHA Primer #1 cannot compensate for a coating, finish or surface treatment that itself has insufficient cohesive strength or insufficient adhesion to the underlying panel.
Before application, the bonding surface must be dry, clean and free from dust, grease and other contamination. Surface preparation and application of TWEHA Primer #1 must be carried out in accordance with the applicable TWEHA Instructions for Use.
Because coatings and surface treatments can vary significantly in chemical composition, surface energy and adhesion to the underlying substrate, the use of TWEHA Primer #1 does not automatically guarantee durable adhesion.
The complete combination of:
panel + surface treatment/coating + TWEHA Primer #1 + TWEHA adhesive
must always be verified by an appropriate adhesion and durability test before approval for use in a bonded façade application.
Always refer to the applicable TWEHA Technical Data Sheet, Instructions for Use and the current list of Tested & Approved substrates

Designed for performance and efficiency
Engineered for reliable bonding

TWEHA Primer #1 is particularly suitable for:
TWEHA Primer #1 is particularly suitable for the bonding side of coated façade panels, and for façade panels with low surface energy finishes, factory-applied coatings and protective surface treatments. It performs well on coated metal façade panels, coated aluminum composite panels, and coated ceramic or mineral-based panels where specifically tested. It is designed for surfaces where direct adhesion with a TWEHA adhesive has proven insufficient, or where an adhesion test indicates that additional surface treatment is required, as well as other difficult or critical panel surfaces following TWEHA assessment. It is used in combination with TWEHA PanelMate, StoneMate, GlassMate or MetalMate where specified.
A complete bonding system
All TWEHA products are part of the Tweha Bonding System. Always refer to the Technical Data Sheets and approved substrate lists for correct system application.

Primer #1 is intended for selected low-surface-energy panel backsides where additional adhesion improvement is required.
No. Primer #1 should only be used when specified by TWEHA or when testing confirms that additional surface treatment is necessary.
Yes. It modifies the bonding interface to improve adhesion on compatible low-energy surfaces.
No. The bonding surface must first be completely dry, clean and free from dust and grease.
Panel coatings, resins, finishes and production batches can vary and may significantly influence long-term adhesion.

More efficient, more economical
Compared to traditional mechanical fixation systems, TWEHA Bonding Systems can reduce installation costs by up to 40%.
Faster installation, fewer components, and no visible fixings result in both economic and aesthetic advantages.
